Mosquito & Tick Control
Enjoy your yard again. Our professional mosquito control program dramatically reduces mosquito and tick populations so you can spend more time outdoors without the bite.
How It Works
We apply a bifenthrin barrier spray with backpack mist blowers to the shaded undersides of foliage where adult mosquitoes rest during the day — arborvitae hedges, the north side of the garage, under deck stairs, and the lower 8 feet of tree canopy along your property line. We don't fog open lawn (mosquitoes don't rest there) and we don't waste product on sunny areas. The barrier knocks down adults on contact and keeps killing for roughly three weeks as new mosquitoes land on treated surfaces.
What You're Actually Fighting in the West Metro
Hennepin County is home to roughly 50 mosquito species, but a handful do almost all the biting. Aedes vexans — the floodwater mosquito — explodes in numbers after every heavy rain when temporary pools in low spots and ditches hatch eggs that may have been dormant for years. Culex tarsalis and Culex pipiens are the main West Nile Virus vectors and become more active in late July and August. Coquillettidia perturbans (the cattail mosquito) is the one ruining evenings near Lake Sarah, Lake Independence, and any property backing up to a wetland.
Ticks are the quieter problem. Deer ticks (Ixodes scapularis) carry Lyme disease and anaplasmosis, and Hennepin County has been a confirmed high-incidence area for over a decade. They live in leaf litter and tall grass at the edge of wooded areas — exactly the kind of property line common in Medina, Corcoran, Orono, and Greenfield. The barrier treatment hits both.
We don't claim to eliminate every mosquito — that's not honest. What we do is drop the resident population by roughly 85–90% so you can actually use your deck after dinner.
What to Expect on Treatment Day
- Day before: We text you a 2-hour arrival window. Bring pet toys, water bowls, and anything you want kept dry inside.
- On arrival: The tech walks the property, notes any new flowering plants or pollinator activity, and confirms skip zones (vegetable beds, koi ponds, beehives).
- Application (20–40 min): Backpack mist blower covers shaded foliage, fence lines, deck undersides, and the lower tree canopy. We don't spray turf.
- Drying (~30 min): Stay off treated areas until dry. In humid July weather it can take 45 minutes.
- After: You'll get a service summary by email. Expect a noticeable drop in mosquitoes within 24 hours and the cleanest results between days 3 and 18.
Our Treatment Cadence
First Visit
Late May or early June, once nighttime lows stay above 50°F. We map your property and apply a full barrier — this is the heaviest knockdown of the season.
Every 21 Days
Through summer we return on a 3-week cycle. After major rain events (the main Aedes vexans trigger), we'll move your visit up if numbers spike.
Final Treatment
Mid-September, going into the cool nights when populations naturally collapse. Six to seven visits total in a typical Minnesota season.
What's Included
- 6–7 barrier treatments from late May through mid-September
- Hits both adult mosquitoes and deer ticks in one application
- Targeted to shaded resting areas — no wasted product on open turf
- Free reapplication after 1″+ rain within 24 hours of treatment
- Pollinator-aware: we skip flowering plants and keep buffers from water
- Same-day rescheduling for outdoor events with 48 hours notice
- Email service summary after every visit
- Month-to-month — cancel anytime, no annual contract
One-Time Event Sprays
Graduation parties, backyard weddings, and 4th of July gatherings book up fast — especially in Plymouth and Maple Grove neighborhoods where lots back up to wetlands. We treat 24 to 48 hours before your event for maximum knockdown, and you don't need to be on the seasonal program. Book at least a week ahead during peak June and July.
