How many applications are in the organic fertilizer program?

Six. They are six identical applications spread across the growing season, starting in early spring and ending in fall. Unlike our standard program, where each round is formulated differently for the time of year, every organic round uses the same 100% organic material.

Does the organic program include weed control?

No. This is the single most important thing to understand before signing up. The organic program fertilizes and feeds soil biology, but it does not treat weeds. Quality organic weed control products are not currently available at a level we are willing to put our name on. If you want weeds handled, our 7-step Fertilization & Weed Control program is the right fit.

Will my lawn look as good as it would on the standard program?

Not as quickly, and usually not to the same degree. Our standard program uses premium slow-release fertilizers that feed the lawn steadily for weeks, plus weed control. The organic program has neither. It builds soil health over multiple seasons rather than delivering fast top-growth and color. Most homeowners who want the best-looking lawn on the block choose the standard program.

Why does West Metro not offer an organic slow-release fertilizer?

Because viable organic slow-release fertilizers do not exist yet at a quality and consistency we would stand behind. The same is true of organic weed control. We would rather tell you that plainly than sell you something that underperforms. We are committed to offering these options as soon as they genuinely become available.

Is this the same thing as Organic Soil Improvement?

No, they are two different services. Organic Soil Improvement is a single granular application of nitrogen, humic acid, biosolids and gypsum that conditions the soil, and it is often paired with aeration and overseeding. The Organic Fertilizer Program is a full six-round season-long feeding program. Some properties get both.

Who is this program actually right for?

Homeowners who have decided that a 100% organic input is non-negotiable for their property, and who accept slower results and no weed control in exchange. It is a small share of our customer base, and we would rather it stay honest than oversell it.

Six Steps, 100% Organic

Six identical applications spread across the growing season, starting in early spring and ending in fall. Each one is abundant with micro-nutrients that help build a healthy soil profile from the ground up.

Most fertilization programs are built around what makes turf look good fastest. This one is built around what feeds the soil. Organic material breaks down slowly, feeding the microbial life in your soil, which in turn makes nutrients available to your grass over time.

That is a genuinely different approach, and it comes with genuinely different results. We would rather walk you through the tradeoffs honestly than have you sign up expecting something this program is not designed to deliver.

What This Program Does Not Include

This program differs from our industry-leading Organic-Based Fertilization & Weed Control Program. It uses 100% organic applications to fertilize and promote healthy soil biology, but it does not include premium slow-release fertilizers or weed control.

That is not an oversight on our part. Currently, viable organic slow-release fertilizers and quality organic weed control options are not available. We are committed to offering these options as soon as they become available, and until then we are not going to pretend otherwise.

In practice that means two things. Your lawn will green up more slowly and less dramatically than it would on our standard program. And weeds will need to be handled separately, either by you or through a different service.

The organic program exists for the homeowners who have made a deliberate choice to go fully organic and understand what that choice costs them in speed and in weed pressure.
